Bottesford's Darcy Broad had a mixed night at the Simplicity Stadium as he scored 10 points and finished in his lowest position so far in Round 5 of the Juvenile Jaunt
Broad won his opening and final ride on the night.Heading home in Heat 4 after a good three lap tussle with rival Alfie Goodwin, who was second. He was out in the next Heat and was caught out at the gate as maximum man, and 5th round winner, LLoys Byfield stormed away from the tapes, followed closely by Broad and Ryan Betts, Betts then kept Darcy at bay to hold second place on a good night for the Milton Keyne's asset.
a 2nd and 3rd place in his next two rides saw Darcy looking for a morale boosting win in his last ride to consolidate his 2nd place in the South Midlands section. Borad duly deliverd under pressure and his final 10 point haul sees him sitting a handy joint 6th in the overall standings on 54 points and keeps him in the hunt for a Semi Final place for now.
Bullet's skipper Mike Cartwright, mentor to Broad, remains happy with his protege's performances, "Darcy recovered well after a good start and put in a huge win in his last ride under some pressure. He has real ability on the bike and maybe he was due a quieter night. However he still scored well and remains in touch with the top guys, that's testament to his efforts so far, there's some big club assets he's competing with out there, and he's pulling his weight and taking it to them. He can be proud of his efforts so far, but he needs to retaint that focus and self belief to make sure he sees it through to the finals. he is a great kid with loads if potential and he listens well and learns."
The next round is his home track, where he'll be keen to impress and add to his tally - Week 9 - Bring it on !
