he Bottesford Promotion is delighted to announce the line-up for their INAUGURAL TOP GUN Extravaganza
The Line-up includes the remaining 6 fit Bullets, as Zoltan Slepukhin is resting after suffering concussion in a spill last week.
New LOAN signing Ricky Ede makes his long awaited debut at the Bullet Arena, after missing out on the original declaration at the season start, where delayed paperwork saw Luke Patryk join the septet instead.
Bullets’ manager Paul Duff was keen to thank Patryk and his club for his efforts, “Luke struggled if I’m being honest, from day one, perhaps us having a youngish team didn’t help him fully too, we had to make changes to strengthen the side, and there will be a reshuffle to the side once Zoltan returns next week too, which, hopefully will see us start to climb up the table, a rest will do Zoltan good this week or so”.
Duff also welcomed Ede into the team, adding “Ricky was on originally on my radar but I couldn’t quite get the deal to the table in time within the points limit, I’m delighted to have finally got my man, and he comes in without any pressure, he’s a talented boy and I’m sure he’ll entertain the crowds here and away from home, he’s a lot like Lewie Carr in that respect. He’ll benefit from a Top Gun event and a bit of track time.”
Joining the Bullets on track are a couple of riders who have ridden well at the Arena so far this year for their Academy sides and a glut of NSSPA assets who will be mad keen to put themselves in the shop window this weekend.
Duff reckons the crowd are in for a treat. “It’s a GP style showcase event with a few who have shown a liking for our track already this year. Hull’s Brage Moller-Bech returns along with Charlemont’s Ewald Dirtl, London Jets’ Tom Hennesy and Abertillery’s Connor Whitelaw. We’ve also added a few of the NSSPA assets alongside our lads to spice things up. With it being a down week, these lads will be keen to impress and showcase their talents, with a lot of teams looking to make changes there should be some exciting racing and great competition.”
Local sponsors, Young’s Motors have stumped up a £1500 prize fund with £850 going to the winner of the Final and the rest being shared out amongst the other finalists pro-rata.
There will be 20 Heats of pulsating action and the top 8 will slug it out in 2 semi-finals, the top two in each will then progress to the Grand Final and a chance at the cash award for winning. There will be a live gate pick for the semis and final and Duff insists it’s a real must see event. “I’m sure some locals will bring friends along to witness the event, it’s sure to be exciting as the GP formula comes to town. I’m sure Hull fans will be there in fine voice to support their man, and I hear Abertillery have a coach load of fans booked to come along too. There’s even talk of some London Jets fans car sharing with Charlemont fans on the Speedway forums and twitter trending has kicked off already. A little bit of added spice is the inclusion of Darcy Broad at reserve alongside the NSSPA’s own David Scott. Darcy has been making great strides in the JJ South Midlands competition, and I was tempted to put him straight into the meeting. It’s very likely he’ll get a ride from reserve and it will be an opportunity to show the locals what he can do.”
With the JJ South circuit due here next Darcy will benefit from any track time he can get and is well ready to show what he can do around the Bullet Arena.
With the weather set to be scorcher this weekend it promises to be a real feast of entertainment. There has been a big promotional push at local schools and colleges too to spread the word and kids U14 are free for the meeting with accompanying adults. A bouncy castle and small funfair have taken up the offer to pitch up in the Arena outskirts with food outlets and the bar well stocked to take advantage of the good weather predicted.
Get on down to the Bullet Arena – Gates open at 6.00 pm Friday 11th September with tapes up at 7.30pm.
