Teesside Transporters have decided against riding a challenge match with Workington Logheads after missing out on qualification for the 4TT - something which team boss Graeme Bailey has questioned.
"I didn't realise the rules were 1 to 7, rather than top-four - which logic suggests would be the best way, as with the pairs it is top-two - now we are left with the scenario that the best two riders in the UL - Hans (Bergestol) and Liam (Reay), won't be riding and that can't be right but rules are rules and I wouldnt want them changing now, maybe it is something the NSSPA can look at - which have informed them of our observations.
"Indeed I feel more sorry for Workington as their top four is as high as most and they would have been amongst the favourites if they had ridden - but it gives our guys a chance to prepare for our next match.
"We are sending all eight riders, as we are also taking Giles Hill our JJ rider, on holiday for a bit of R&R and sunshine, so we think this will do them a world of good, team spirit is good so this only enhance that.
"As the PL 4TT is at the Dock Yard, which is a huge honour for the club, we wouldnt have been able to ride at home to Workington anyway so this was another reason for us to head to the sunshine rather Stockport - who would have held our home leg."
