A top performance by the lads saw us pick up a nice comfortable win over Aberavon. That has put us into 3rd place for the moment in what is becoming a very very tight UL. This league is going to come down to bonus points of that there is no doubt so big home wins are imperative.
Martin Shaw led superbly from the front with a paid maximum back in the number one position. This completed a great week for him after racing to a maximum in his British semi-final. He had superb backing from all the team with them all picking up at least a paid win. I was especially pleased with our reserves. Kalle Mikkelsen scoring paid 10 and a more than handy 5 points from 3 rides for Kenneth Krogh. Kalle will thrive at reserve and show the importance of having a strong rider in one of those positions.
Jean-Marc Struthers was solid as he has been all season and would have hit double figures but for a machine problem in his 2nd ride. It was no surprise to see him qualifying comfortably for the North American final earlier in the week. Brad Easty and Peter Doyle both scored paid 7 and if they keep doing that I will be more than happy. Contrasting fortunes in their quests to get to their national finals though as Brad eased through to the Australasian final but Peter didn't quite do enough to make the British final. Finally we have a subdued Erik Davidsson in our ranks. He was hugely upset at not qualifying for the Scandinavian final and didn't look himself to score a low 6 points against the Gems. I'm sure he will pick himself back up, he is too good and too experienced not to.
Onto the fours this week and the qualifying event for us to start with. I think we have a strong 4 if they all ride to their best so we will give it our best shot.
Finally our young JJ rider, Nick Turner, has been for his second and final coaching session with the NSSPA coaches in an effort to get some consistency into his season. We will see how it works out with the next 2 rounds coming in quick succession.
