Westwood fans and management alike were over the moon after the Wizards lifted the Academy League 4TT Trophy!
In the Group stages Westwood were pitted against Hailsham Hornets,, Hull Angel and Rowley Raptors.. The Wizards started very slowly and after two heats had only scored 1 point. However they started to recover with a heat win and a 2nd place. Their position was further improved when Rowley's Riku Uljas took a nasty tumble in Heat 5 which seemed to take all the steam out of the Raptors. By Heat 7 Hailsham and Westwood had comfortably qualified for the Final of the event and with Glen Harmison . winning the last heat the two teams finished level on the night. Star Rider was Ben Leighton(Hailsham) who was Unbeaten.
The Final saw the Wizards and the Hornets joined by Stone Cross Stars and Charlemont Chargers in longer format of 12 heats. The early lead changed hands a few times, but by Heat 9 the Chargers had started to drop away. They then got back into contention with two heat wins on the bounce . By the end of the Heat 11 and the scores standing at: Westwood 18, Stone Cross 18, Charlemont 15 and Hailsham 15 there was everything to play in the final heat of the night!
Westwood's Linus Cedergren shot from the gate and with Stone Cross's Justin Ross completely missing the star the Wizard fans were left to roar Linus home to lift the trophy.
