This meeting was a close fought affair, the winner was a very capable Josh Pullen (who has benefited from some double up meetings in the PL) Andre Wyer worked hard and impressed in 2nd place, it was almost a complacent Brett Harkins who many expected better, I was not surprised to see the inspired John Stroud who ignored being a lesser fish in this bigger pond and if he wasn't roughed out in his last heat could easily have won the event (but a Final appearance is good for him. Shane Rumsey rode within himself to comfortably qualify, whilst Lee Jessup, Jamie Airey (who has deserved a team place this season) and Jason Hoskins went through a series of race off to qualify, with Russ Julian claiming a reserve spot in the Final.
The bigger guns were definitely in this 2nd semi final as Craven, Szczygiel, Major and Caffrey were the major racers and deserved their top 4 places, Bouchard is a rider who could upset a few moving forward, it was good to see a top racer in last years JJ Carl McKinlay make the final, Steve Crammond will be pleased with his achievement, Ray France who has been a leading light in the JJ this season missed out on Final place, but hopefully hew is given the nod for the final reserve place.
Craig Gooderham a bright light in the AL earlier in the season may still be shell shocked by losing his team place at Falmouth and it showed in his preparation as two retirements put paid to his chances of qualifying.
Looking forward to a very exciting Finale......
