Wednesfield Wanderers won their 5th home meeting of the season in the season's first Live Meeting.
There was plenty of support in the a healthy crowd of over 1100 people, and there was plenty of good racing with the home winning the meeting 48-42.
Top scorer was Jamie Vaughan (13) and he was ably backed by number 1 Boris Dvoynev (paid 10), Skipper Phil Hayes (paid 9) and an impressive Martin Greer (paid 9) who was guesting for the first time this season for Wednesfield.
Manager Steve Morgan said afterwards, "It was exciting to be live. There was plenty of banter in the terraces as we had a few more in than normal, and we were good value for the win. We are still not firing on all cylinders, and there are riders in the team whose longevity is running out. In transfer window 2, I am prepared for change as the riders have had plenty of time to get adjusted to life in the Power League. This season represents a great opportunity to get into the UL and that is still our goal. But we need all 7 performing and scoring. We see glimpses from some, but it is not enough. We need more!!!"
eflecting on the meeting, Morgan added, "we had 5 last places, which is always a good sign of a strong home team. But I am disappointed in a couple of instances. One being the wrong reserve being racked in heat 7, which then forced me to have Stemme riding in a race I didn't want him in. When I looked at my programme, I fancied him to get something against Koskela who had 2 zeros in 2 races, but it didn't happen and that could prove costly at the end of the season......"
Asked what he will do with the extra attendance money and bonus revenue, Morgan added, "I could quite easily invest in new facilities at the Kingo, but we are in a decent with them, so I will be investing in the team in our pursuit of promotion...."
