Team manager Spencer is well pleased with the way the team have now pulled themselves together following their week "away". " Quite how we did not pick up the bonus point v London I don't know" he moaned.
The only problem at the moment is the form of Ben Harris, whose average has dropped alarmingly and has now lost the No 1 spot to Justin Ross, who just keeps improving. Craig Howland at reserve is almost the top paid rider at Peelings Lane and despite being at reserve he has started to raise his game as the charge for the finish line gets hotter. 2nd in the table on goal difference and one less home match than most looks good for the STARS.
And of course in that other sport.
The high flying Eagles have won the National Trophy (no contest) and the National League Gold Trophy (which in any other league would be the play off final) against a TWO man Brummies team. They've only had 3 riders all year, Ellis,Perry and Watchneck, but without Witchnack they had NO chance. Adam Ellis, what a rider, FAR FAR too good for the National League.
And next up is the NLKOC final against Max Clegg, well he's the only decent rider Cradley have got. So that means more champagne popping and joining the riders on the centre green for the celebrations. But what happens next year, the Eagles have far too many points to keep the same 7, so, I reckon they will let Ben Hopwood (Manc based) go, keep the rest and sling in a 3 point guy from somewhere.
