Very disappointed with the home draw against Tunstall. Even with our injuries I thought we would be able to take all 3 points from this match but ended up with just 1. That has de-railed our title challenge somewhat as dropping home points is not good. We looked on course for the win when 8 points up after heat 10 but consecutive Tnustall 5-1s in heats 13 and 14 put them 2 points ahead going into heat 15. The real turning point being in heat 13 when Erik Davidsson's machine gave up the ghost as he rode up to the tapes and he was excluded under the 2 minute rule. Still, these things happen and Martin Shaw and Jamie Vaughan managed to secure a 4-2 in the final heat to give us a share of the spoils. In the run-off for the bonus point Ryan Irwin was too fast out of the gate for Martin and easily picked up the win.
As for the guys, they all rode well especially Jamie who scored a superb 13 points in his first match out of the reserve berth. His confidence is high at the moment and if he keeps this form up he will be heading for a 7 point average come the end of the season. Martin was as reliable as usual and Erik was riding well until his bike troubles. Sam McCurdy scored a solid piad 8 and Jon Nysted had a super win in the reserves race despite scoring no more points in the meeting. I must thank John Scotney for giving it his all as our guest for the night and he will surely pick up an UL spot soon. For Tunstall, Irwin was their top man and he received decent support from Thoresen and Irzyks.
Next match is away at Workington and we will have Jean-Marc Struthers back from injury and able to take his place at reserve. He assures me he is fully fit and raring to go. We have an 8 point lead from the first leg so I am hoping we can keep it close and at least pick up the bonus point although I am confident we can do even better than that.
