It is good to see most of our assets performing well down the leagues. Jamie Vaughan at Wednesfield is certainly enjoying himself. Top of the PL averages and GP qualifiers he is looking like the rider I always thought he would be when I fought hard to prize him away from Brighton 3 seasons ago. If we can stay in the UL I would like to think he will return to us as there will definitely be a place for him. Also at Wednesfield is Jon Nysted who is not really pushing on as we would have expected. He was going to be the next big thing a couple of years back when he won the British U18 title but has just lost his way recently. I thought he would do well back in the PL but he is still struggling and maybe the EL is the right place for him.
Down in the AL we have Shane Rumsey at Hull. He is having a fine season for them and is now a heat leader in their side. I have always thought he could make it in the sport and is proving me correct. He could still do with a couple more seasons at a lower level to help his progress with possibly an EL place next season.
I was very sceptical when our JJ rider from last season, Ray France, was put straight into the number 2 position at Charlemont. My fears, however, have proved unfounded as he has performed admirably and has an average of over 5.00. He had a nasty injury at the beginning of the season but has returned in fine form for one so inexperienced and I am delighted with his progress. He will definitely be wearing the Kings Lynn kevlars in years to come and I can't wait for that to happen.
Halle Soderberg is riding well for Stockholm in Euro League 1 averaging just over 8.50. I was disappointed he wanted to move on from us in the close season but also amazed no one snapped him up. Not that I am unhappy that he is still our asset and who knows I may be able to fit him in again if he fancies a return to the UL.
