Wednesfield suffered further bonus point run off misery after Jamie Vaughan lost in the run off to ex-Wanderer Stephen Trowbridge.
After losing the meeting by 4 points, 47-43, this result tied the aggregate score up, and "Trows" got the jump on Vaughan to get that much needed point.
Wednesfield's top 2, Vaughan (13 from 5 rides) and Dvoynev (paid 11 from 5 rides) led the fight to Chantry but once again the Kingo men lacked real fight in the middle order and ended up leaving the Camelot Arena pointless.
Manager Steve Morgan said, "we targeted this meeting as one where we wanted at least a point, thought it possible to get 2 and fancied our chances of getting 3. In the end we got nothing. This has dropped us to 7th place but we are only 2 points off the top spot. This is the closest Power League in my time of having a team in the PL, and there are still 12 points to ride for. We need at least 7 points from these 4 meetings and that would mean we have equalled our best ever total in the PL, when we came 4th in our first season in this league. With the league being as tight as it is, that might be enough to get into the top 2. 25 or 26 will definitely be good enough......"
Looking at his septet and how they were performing, Morgan added, "we know what we get out of Jamie Vaughan and Boris voynev, and I was surprised that we only came 3rd in the PL Pairs. Phil Hayes has been steady, if unspectacular this season, but I know there is some big performances to come from him in these last 4 meetings. Now is the time for them to been seen. Janne and Dylan are trying so so hard, but it isn't quite happening for them on a consistent basis, but it will come if they keep trying hard. Jon Nysted had a very good meeting last time out scoring paid 9 from 5 rides, and the drop back into reserve will only help his performance and new boy Billy Laidlaw had a very good first home meeting but really struggled with set up at Chantry and failed to score. He is a real trier and I hope it clicks for him as we enter the business end of the season......The boys are ready for the challenge, we just need to work hard and find that missing bit of lady luck that keeps eluding us."
