Wednesfield Wanderers, sponsored by Welding Services, pulled off a shock away win at Stockport to provide Steve Morgan's team with their first away win of the season and only the 5th away win of the Power League season, a win that put them up to 3rd, jumping up from 7th.
It was top men, Vaughan and Dvoynev who led the charge, with both scoring paid 13 from 5 rides each. There was solid support from skipper Phil Hayes (paid 9) and heat wins for Billy Laidlaw and Dylan Goess, in a meeting where Wednesfield only had 7 last places ad 3 of them were for riders falling and getting excluded.
Manager Steve Morgan added, "What a fantastic result. A great team performance with every one the boys chipping in with valuable points. I am so pleased for all 7 riders, the mechanics and the fans who made the trip to Stockport. Well done to everyone...!!"
Wednesfield went 8 points up after 5 heats courtesy of 5-1's in heats 2 and 5. With further advantages in 6 and 7, Wednesfield stood 12 clear after 8 heatsand solidified their position even when Stockport threw the kitchen sink at them. Morgan added," We stood the test and passé it with flying colours. We have 3 meetings to go, 2 of which are at home, we will be going all out to push on from here and get promotion. I have also made the decision over the weekend to increase the capacity as I am expecting bumper crowds for the 2 home meetings we have. 1500 standing and 1000 seating gives us a 2500 capacity which is a sign of the growth we have taken in the 5 years we have had in charge. We look forward to being well supported in the next 3 meetings as we look for the results to get promoted. My team are looking forward to the next 3 meetings and so should everyone else......these are exciting times at the Kingo!!
