Newmarket raiders head into the most important week of our season and are looking to go one better than last season. We have had a good season so far but would like to add some silverware. Both teams will be giving 100% and it looks like a very competitive couple of meetings.
The riders have been working and training all week in preparation for the cup meetings

Newmarket Mafiosi pizza Raiders win the Evolution KO Cup final in a hard fought 2 leg affair against Maidstone Knights, with both sets of riders and Fans up for the challenge.
Newmarket hosted the 1st leg and hoped to build a lead they would be happy to take to Maidstone but after the first 2 heats found themselves down by 4, a 5-1 in heat 3 from Kerekes and Rymel saw the scores level next 2 heats saw both teams claim a 4-2 advantage while a shared heat 7 keep the scores level, heat 8 saw Raiders claim the 1st 5-1 advantage of the meeting which was backed up with two 4-2 heat advantages for the Raiders and open up an 8 point lead, heat 11 was shared before heat 12 saw the Knights hit back with a 5-1 to close the gap to 4 points only for the Raiders to hit back in the next heat and claim their 2nd 5-1 of the meeting and open the gap to 8 again which was once again closed by the Knights as heat 14 saw them register their 2nd 5-1 of the meeting, going into the last heat the noise at the dome was deafening as both sets of supporters found their voice one more time, a 4-2 to the raiders saw them end the meeting with a 6 point lead to take to Maidstone for the 2nd leg.
The 2nd leg of the KO Cup saw both teams give it all once again with the knights coming out flying with a 5-1 in heat 1 and close the aggregate score to just 2 points but the Raiders hit back with their own 5-1 in heat 2 the next 3 heats were all shared heat 6 had the Knights claim a 4-2 to once again close the gap to just 4 on aggregate and take a 2 point lead in the meeting heat 7 had the raiders claiming a fine 5-1 to take the lead on the night by 2 and increase the aggregate score to 8 but with the knights hitting back with two 4-2 in heats 8 and 9 and once again take the lead in the meeting and close the gap to just 4 points, with the next 4 heats all shared the Raiders found themselves down by 2 on the night but holding a slender 4 point lead on aggregate, heat 14 was the make or break heat for both teams which saw raiders Hoskins and Rymel claim an all important 4-2 to level the scores on the night and take the trophy. heat 15 saw the Knights claim a 4-2 advantage and claim the win on the night 46-44 but the Raiders held on and claimed the trophy over both legs by 4 points 92-88.
Raiders team manager Terry Rigby said what a great feeling to claim a trophy in only our 2nd season but credit to both sets of riders and fans for making the two legs unforgettable, have to say hard luck to Maidstone who pushed us all the way in both meetings.
