Teesside Transporters were celebrating their first major success as they lifted the UL KO Cup with an aggregate win over Yorkshire rivals Whitby Vampires.
After a fiercely fought contest Teesside looked to be home and dry before a 5-1 in the penultimate heat of the second leg tied up the scores, but it was left to their dynamic Norwegian duo of Hans E Bergestol and Olle Bjorn Thoresen to seal a 4-2 and give them the win.
Team boss Graeme Bailey was delighted: "It was great, the Dock Yard was bouncing in the first leg with our biggest ever attendance at over 2,500 and we took quite a few hundred to Whitby, and they witnessed a great meeting.
"And the most pleasing thing was that every single rider contributed, ever rider had a win or a paid win to his name from the two legs, but I have to single out Hans, our captain fantastic. He has been brilliant this season, we broke the bank for him to bring him back and he has not looked back - hopefully we can finish the season in style against Aberavon before he goes on to seal his first ever world title - which he deserves."
