SENIOR EVENT 1 RESULTS
Event 1 - Group A
Top men Bridges and Treadwell led the Celtic Nations straight to the World Cup Final to defend their title, the pair ably back by useful points from both Stewart and McCurdy. Poland sealed a place in the Raceoff with a strong team display as all their riders contributed and they just saw off Sweden. The Swedes also had a good all-round display but sadly results from the other groups saw them fall just short and miss out on a place in the Raceoff by a single point. West Europe had Innacone and Juttke in good form but didn't have the support and came 4th, although only 5 points behind the Poles in 2nd in what proved to be a very close run group.

Event 1 - Group B
England recovered from a slow start to blast into the World Cup Final with a great display as Ambrose, Bedford and Reay all recorded double figure returns. Australia rode out of their skins and will go to the Raceoff after all their riders contributed strongly, particularly Irwin and Coglin. East Europe were unlucky to suffer a couple of mechanical problems which meant their 29 points just fell short of a place in the Raceoff and ended their competition. North America relied on McChesney for most of their points but have some good young riders coming through and will surely perform better in future seasons.

Event 1 - Group C
Bergestol and Thoresen led the Finland/Norway side to the World Cup Final but were well supported by Juritzen and Ostenstad in a fine performance which blew the opposition away in this round. The Czech Republic were surprise qualifiers for the Raceoff with an excellent display as young Janicek saw his stock rise further with an outstanding performance on the Senior stage. 3rd place went to the Rest of the World, led by Chong and Te-Huna, as Moore and Axentiff added enough points in support to see them reach 29 points which was enough to take the highest scoring 3rd place spot and move to the Raceoff next weekend. At the bottom of the charts were the Danes who just couldn't get going all afternoon and surprisingly went out with a bit of a whimper; to top off their bad luck story Jens Prydtz picked up their first race win of the meeting and then was forced to withdraw with a knock to his arm, reserve Hansen failing to score in his 2 outings.

UNDER 21 EVENT 1 RESULTS
Event 1 - Group A
A very close meeting saw Sweden reach the World Cup Final, led by Runeberg but with Blomqvist, Cedergren and Nysted showing the depth of their squad with excellent displays. The Czech Republic matched their Senior side by making it to the Raceoff meeting, Nemecek in outstanding form for them with 14 points. England had an up and down meeting but their 30 points proved enough to reach the Raceoff with Payne, Bonham-Wells and Rawlins all contributing well. West Europe were not far off at all and suffered some terrible luck which cost them; Manzbach was excellent but all their other riders had a fall and Lehsmeyer would surely have scored more but for an exclusion and engine failure.

Event 1 - Group B
Finland/Norway were outstanding in this one and it looks like they'll take some stopping if they can repeat this display in the World Cup Final; Haagensen proved unbeatable and Ruuska, Solberg and Petersen were also scoring well to see them through. Poland will go to the Raceoff, despite suffering engine troubles for Baran and Witoszek but Kryznowek was impressive and ensured they took 2nd. East Europe challenged throughout but couldn't get a rider into double figures, Akumbaev looking their best performer in reaching 9, which proved costly as they fell short of the points target for a Raceoff place. The Celtic Nations found the going too tough on the day with only Caffrey really mixing it against the stronger looking European sides and additionally they were hindered by Harkins taking a tumble and having to withdraw with a sore neck.

Denmark took an early lead in this, led by the impeccable Jeppesen, and never looked troubled as they strode to the World Cup Final. Williamson led the Rest of the World side to a Raceoff place with 10 points as he received solid support through the side. North America looked good with Houtby, DeRozen and Burkes performing well but Antunovich failed to beat the 2 minute time limit in his first ride and looked down on power up until his last race which meant they fell short of the points target to take a Raceoff place but they'll surely be back and stronger next season. Outisders Australia put up a strong showing and, but for a fall for top scorer Montsach, may have been able to sneak into the Raceoff places as Mabo and Rundle also impressed for them.
