"Worth the wait!" said promoter David Grainger. Celebrations continued long into the night at Foxhall to celebrate Workington's return to the top flight, "Where we belong!" "The whole team put 3 points on their averages, so proud of the lads at the moment."
We had Vaclav agree to drop a division and led from the front from first meeting to the last. Proudly sat top of the league averages, an absolute star and first choice for next season.
Next signature we are after is Dexter. Between Workington and Cleator Moor, he has been a star in the making and we look forward to watching him in the top flight. Harvey is looking to follow in his tyre tracks and likely not to ride for us next season as we don't want to ruin his confidence by bringing him to the top flight too early.
We had a King's Lynn asset, Jason, in the pits to keep up morale. He always wants to win in Suffolk.
Jan and Anders had a tough time, but were the engine room of the team and absolutely essential for our title challenge. We can't recommend them highly enough.
Rhett had brief spell out of reserve. Rhett knew this was a career making season after struggling in the UL last season. Will go into the Aussie season full of confidence.
Unbeaten at home and we have already started to look at our preferred 7 for next season. Thanks to our fans and our sponsors this year. We will celebrate and remain grounded as we know that staying up next season will be tough.

Liam Reay is back. The former World Champion quickly agreed terms to become our first signing back in the big time.
Now for the rest of the side.

Vaclav Ruzucha has agreed to sign on for another season in Cumbria.
Anders Solberg has agreed to fulfill that undoubted promise sonetimes absent last season.
Dexter Last hasn't considered riding elsewhere yet. A big reason for our promotion.
Oliver Chritensen signed on loan from Newmarket. If he can get to perform well away from Raiders Dome, will be in for a good season.
Josh Montsach has joined from Chantry after ending the season as their #1. We've had our eye on him in the Australian International side and hope he will take that 3rd heat leader spot, at least challenge Dexter for the role.
One more to come!

Last rider signed. He is Alan Connor,25, Irish, last seen in Britain helping King's Lynn get promoted in 2018. Overlooked by his International Management for the current WTC.
A finely balanced side, now for the optimists to takeover and explain how we can win the League!

A mixed bag in the friendlies, but overall we are happy with the line up. Many bonus points scored shows that the team is riding well together too. Home form has been as good as hoped, just Josh and Oli struggled away.

We have ridden at home and away and we remain unbeaten. Not the performance we expected, but a dream start for the Logheads following their promotion last season.
At home
WORKINGTON LOGHEADS 48 CANVEY ISLAND CASTAWAYS 41
1. Liam Reay................. 3 F 3 2 - - 8 2. Dexter Last............... 1 3 2 2* - - 8+1 3. Alan Connor............... 1* 1* 3 3 F - 8+2 4. Josh Montsach............. 2 2 0 1 - - 5 5. Vaclav Ruzucha............ 3 3 3 1* 3 - 13+1 6. Oliver Christensen........ 2 0 0 - - - 2 7. Anders Solberg............ F 0 1* X 3 - 4+1
Apart from a few falls as some riders showed a little rustiness, this was the home start the fans had been hoping for. Canvey kept it close until Heat 12 and Workington finished strongly
Away from home
LANARKSHIRE LIONS 45 WORKINGTON LOGHEADS 45
1. Liam Reay................. 2 2 2 3 0 2* - 11+1 2. Dexter Last............... 1* 0 3 0 - - - 4+1 3. Alan Connor............... 0 2 2 1 - - - 5 4. Josh Montsach............. 2 1* 0 - - - - 3+1 5. Vaclav Ruzucha............ 1 2 2 2 3 3 - 13 6. Oliver Christensen........ 1* 0 0 - - - - 1+1 7. Anders Solberg............ 2 3 1 2* - - - 8+1
Lanarkshire will be wondering how they didn't manage to win this. McFarlane was a gap that proved hard to cover and tactical moves saw the Logheads finish strong again, despite only Solberg and Last winning a programmed ride.

Josh Montsach is looking like he will miss at least 4 weeks after dislocating his shoulder in the home win against Wantage.
We had thought of doing rider replacement as Solberg is in the form of his career for Workington. However, we have decided that, with the points limit to change soon, Zdenek Drahos arrives on loan from Milton Keynes. He had scored well home and away for the Cats last season and thank you to Sean for agreeing the deal.
Drahos was the suggestion of Ruzucha after they had hit it off at their Squad meet up. They both got to ride in the test matches, but failed to make the World Cup line up for the finalists.

We are trying to track down the Manager of Workington for an interview, but we believe he is in tax exile. Alternatively, his anxiety levels are so high, he has become a hermit as the Logheads remain top of the table after 11 matches.
As a stat of interest, here's the team averages based on programmed rides only.
8.11 Vaclav Ruzucha 7.56 Alan Connor 6.89 Liam Reay 6.11 Dexter Last 5.33 Zdenek Drahos 4.44 Anders Solberg 2.50 Josh Montsach 2.11 Oliver Christensen
All we do know, that it there are bright times in Cumbria (unlike real life).

As part of the stunning start made by Workington, their riders have managed to be doing well on an individual basis too. Last did not qualify from the British Final, but Ruzucha, Connor, Reay and Solberg remain in the hunt for the GP next season.

It's been a while since we've posted. However, with the final match of the season about to take place. It time for Logheads to bang the drum.
Ruzucha lost the run off to be UL Riders Champion and his rise has been a major contribution to the good form shown by team. Ruzucha and Reay made the GP Challenge Semi Finals, but were eliminated. They both must wait until next season to try again for the GP series. Unlike, third heat leader in Workington, Irishman Alan Connor rode an excellent meeting to upset the pre-match odds and blast his way into the GP Challenge, beating the wild card Rumun Dimotrov in a run-off to top the rostrum in this Semi Final.
Workington were held to a draw at home by a flying Hull side and then we lost the BP against them and away at Newmarket. What does that mean? A winner takes all final match at home to Milton Keynes Cats. Tied on points in the league, it will be just down to victory on the night. After the Bedfordshire match resulted in a home win, 47-43, Workington Logheads know the bonus point won't be enough.

Well, that's a wrap. Workington are able to celebrate another league championship.
Vaclav - Expected to imp[rove from last season, but ended as our #1 and managed to break into the Czech best pairs squad and 2nd in the Divisional Riders Championship. Liam - Signed for his experience and, although his points scoring may have tailed off a bit, still came up big when Logheads needed it. Anders - started as a reserve and a large reason for this seasons success, also broke into the Swedes best pairs squad. Alan - a slow burner, scoring great points and never one to take the headlines, until he won the GP Challenge Semi Final. Dexter - swapped with Anders at reserve and continued to show improvement, as he has every season since first signing for Workington. Zdenek - won his 2nd league championship medal in a row after signing to replace the injured Josh and racking up double figure scores, mostly away from Cumbria. Josh - made a slow start and then got injured, who knows what the future holds. Oliver - signed to do a job and matched his starting average, did exactly what he was signed to do and impressed in training.
